Thomas William Fox from Stockton served in the 5th Batallion, DLI, and died of wounds received in the Battle of Arras.
He was born in Stockton in 1884, one of seven children (though sister Ada died as an infant) to Charles James Fox and Mary Jane (nee Allan).
Like his father, Thomas worked as a labourer. Three years before the outbreak of war, both Charles and Mary Jane died.
Little is known of Thomas' war service, but his life ended on St George's Day, April 23rd 1917, when he died of wounds received at the Battle of Arras. He is buried at Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, nr Arras, Northern France.
